Florida Agriculture in the Classroom, Inc.
is proud to announce the
2007 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award and
2007 Outstanding Volunteer Program of the Year Award
WHAT IS AGRICULTURE IN THE
CLASSROOM?
Agriculture is an important part of everyone’s life.
Clothing, food, fuel, housing, medicine, and much more are
rooted in agriculture. The mission of Florida Agriculture
in the Classroom, Inc. is to help Florida school children
understand these important connections by providing
teachers with the tools to incorporate agricultural
concepts in their language arts, math, science and social
studies lessons. Florida Ag in the Classroom relies on its
legion of industry volunteers to reach even more students
and teachers by carrying out many of its programs such as
county teacher and volunteer workshops, local Agventure
field trips, Ag Learning Barn mobile libraries and
Agriculture Literacy Day reading sessions, among other
efforts.
WHAT IS THE OUTSTANDING
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD?
The Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an
industry volunteer who gives freely of his or her time and
who uses creative approaches to teach students about the
importance of Florida agriculture using Florida Ag in the
Classroom curricula, materials and programs. The winner
will receive an all expenses paid trip to the Florida Ag in
the Classroom State Workshop “Go Cocoa-Nut for Florida
Agriculture” in Cocoa Beach June 18-20 where he or she will
be recognized at the banquet.
